Synopsis: There Is No Place for Fakes

Philomel, the false princess, and her mother plot to pose as the imperial princess and provoke war between the Mage Tower and the Empire. Once her treachery is revealed, Philomel is sentenced to a fitting punishment: execution. But Philomel protests, insisting that her misdeeds do not warrant such a punishment. Frustrated and fearful, Philomel throws a book she found in the garden. The book prophesies her death, and though she dismisses it as fiction, events begin to unfold precisely as it predicts. Determined to survive, Philomel sets out to discover the source of the book's ominous predictions and find a way to outsmart fate.
