Synopsis: Mazinger Z

The initial Super Robot manga to establish the fundamental characteristics of Mecha as a genre was Mazinger. Constructed with Super-Alloy Z, Professor Juzo Kabuto developed it as a weapon to combat the Mechanical Beasts of Dr. Hell's reign of terror. Upon his passing, his grandson Koji Kabuto becomes the pilot of Mazinger Z and fights against Dr. Hell and his accomplices. This marked the genesis of the concept of placing a pilot within a Mecha, a concept perpetuated by all future series of the genre.
